Mythology related to dham is that at here king Bhagiratha prayed for about thousands of year to Lord Shiva, who then allow River Ganga to go down from heaven to earth to release Bhagiratha’s predecessors from their sins. The shrine at here was built by Gorkha general Amar Singh Thapa in about 18th century. The shrine at here is dedicated to goddess Ganga. The origin of River Ganga is 19 km far from Gangotri shrine. After Gangotri Dham next come Kedarnath, it is an important Dham among the others. Kedarnath shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is said to be that it’s one of the 12 jyotrilings. Mythology related this shrine is that at here Pandavas of Mahabharata to penance to Lord Shiva for the killing of their brother kauravas in the war of Mahabharata. To reach Kedarnath you have to do a 14km trek from gaurikund and if you don’t want to do trek you should take helicopter ride that’s take you there within 15 minutes. At the end of the Chardham Yatra you will reach Badrinath Dham, it is the most beautiful and unique shrine that you have ever seen. This beautiful shrine has a golden gilt small cupola over its top and its 15 meter tall. At entrance of the temple there is a façade beautifully built of stone that’s having arched windows. Inside the main shrine you can see a black stone statue of the lord badrinarayan, sitting on the golden canopy beneath the Badri tree. The hot water spring at near the temple is Tapt kund is considered to be medicinal by pilgrims. Before enter the shrine you have to take a bath in this kund according to pilgrims.
