Since the advent of electricity, human beings are accustomed to having light whenever and wherever they need. Abrupt absence of light makes us feel unsafe and scared. Light has become indispensable part of our lives. Among all kinds of flashlights, LED flashlights are the most popular. Different from ordinary types, this type creates light through diodes instead of incandescent bulbs which are no so energy saving. Most of us like LED because: * They are much more efficient. * They draw less power and produce less heat. According to study, LED consumes only 5 to 10 percent of the power of an equivalent light bulb. Those features make them more durable and long lasting than other types. * The visibility of LED beam is better than incandescent bulbs. The light from a LED flashlight is visible for up to 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) while incandescent bulbs only light up area within the scope. * They are smaller in size and lighter in weight. So their portability is amazing. * They are capable of giving full luminescence immediately whilst traditional types are not. How to choose LED flashlights LED flashlights seem simple, but we still need to pay attention to some points if we want to avoid regretting on our purchase. * Purchase purpose. Have a clear idea about the using environment of the flashlights. * Brightness. Light is measured in lumens (also lux or candlepower.) The most common range used in LED light is from 10 to 100 lumens. For home or other normal use, up-to-30 lumen will serve us well. For special needs like emergency or police work, flashlights which intensity is around 90 lumens is frequently used. * Battery life. LED flashlights are either run on AA batteries, AAA batteries or button cells. Small sized bright lights usually need two AA batteries to run on. AAA batteries, which are smaller than AA, take the place of AA batteries gradually. Button cells offer better performance and longer battery life, but they are difficult to find in normal shops. * Durability. If you intend to use flashlights for outdoor activities like camping, hiking or trekking, you should opt for types which are durable, tough, water-proof, and shock-resistant.
