Property Mallorca And The Best Beaches In Majorca

Real Estate
Well if you are looking to buy in the property Mallorca market the location is everything and in Property Mallorca a beach is a very important part of the location so it might be a good idea to find something out about the best beaches in Mallorca as it might help your decision in buying property in Mallorca

Alcudia Beach

Alcudia Beach is a beautiful, fine, white sand beach that is popular with tourists and locals alike. The shallow, clear water makes it ideal for families and children. It does get busy in the summer months as the purpose built resort behind the beach fills up with holiday makers. The beach is situated a couple of miles from Alcudia town centre in the Port of Alcudia. The public bus service will drop you off 500 metres from the beach, or if you have a car, you can park in the dedicated free parking area. Water sports are popular in this area and there are many restaurants to choose from along the beachfront.

Good for - families, watersports

Cala Agulla Beach

Cala Agulla is a beautiful sand beach that is surrounded by glorious pine forests and mountains. It is situated in a protected area close to Capdepara and as such, remains largely natural and unspoilt. The sand is fine and white, and the sea is clear and shallow. It is popular during the summer months and offers a range of water sports. There are several beach bars and restaurants and pay car parking is available.

Good for - families

Cala Anguila Beach

Cala Anguila is a fine, golden-white sandy beach with cliffs on either side. Whilst it is quite a small beach, it does stretch back some 150 metres from the sea. The turquoise water is fairly shallow and if the tide is right you may be able to explore some of the caves along the coastline. It is situated three kilometres from Porto Cristo and there is limited parking in the streets of the village. There are no facilities at the beach, but there is a restaurant only a short walk away.

Good for - families

Cala Deia Beach

Cala Deia is a very beautiful small shingle beach with clear waters and rock pools. You can walk from the village or drive down (but parking is quite limited). Remember to bring a chair or a lilo to lie on! The beach is served by two excellent restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the spectacular surroundings.

Good for - lunch

Cala Falco Beach

Cala Falco is a very pretty, small and quiet beach situated to the south of Magaluf. The sea is clear and shallow and the beach is surrounded by rocky outlets and pine forests. There is a small beach bar and you can hire sunbeds and parasols. There is some good snorkelling to be had in the area, with a old ship wreck to the east of the beach. Cala Falco not easy to find, and a car is essential! Take the road towards Cala Figuera/Cala Falco and pass through Cala Vinyes. You will reach a one way system as you approach the Cap de Figuera, then take the road to the right, and keep your eyes peeled for a sign to the beach (sign to your left, beach to the right!). There is plenty of free parking and you can access the beach down some steps.

Good for - quiet, snorkelling

Cala Formentor Beach

Cala Formentor is one of the most beautiful spots on the island and, as a result, is very popular. With a stunning backdrop of pine forest and views to the mountains, it is easy to understand the attraction. The turquoise blue sea is crystal clear and the beach is made from very fine white sand. The beach is quite narrow, so it is not so good for children. It is situated approximately 20km to the north-west of Port de Pollenca. There is a public bus service and a car park (5 parking fee), or a more relaxing way to get there is to take a boat from Port de Pollenca. Get there early!

Good for - beauty spot

Cala Mondrago Beach

Cala Mondrago is situated within a National Park, hence it has been protected from over-development and is considered an area of outstanding natural beauty. With sand dunes, pine forests and rocky coves, it is popular with nature-lovers and locals. There are sun loungers to rent and a restaurant. The area also has walking, cycling and horse riding trails. It is situated 8 km south of Cala d'Or and free car parking is available.

Good for - nature, beauty spot

Cala Portals Vells

A bumpy track from Magalluf leads through pine woods to this beautiful cove at the southwest tip of Palma bay. Head past Western Water Park and go straight one once you pass the BP petrol station. In summer it gets crowded, but out of season you could have your own private beach, with golden sand, rocky cliffs and shimmering turquoise water. It's also popular with yachts who moor in the cove. There is another beach next to Portals Vells - it's a bit smaller, El Mago, and is Mallorca's official nudist beach. From the main beach, hike along the cliffs to the Cove de la Mare de Deu, a rock chapel built by fishermen to give thanks for a safe landing. Back on the road, another 2km brings you to the headland of Cap de Cala Figuera, where you look back at sweeping views of the entire bay of Palma.

Cala Varques Beach

Cala Varques is a quiet and unspoilt beach about 12 km from Porto Cristo. It is fairly isolated and the best way is to approach it from the sea. If you want to drive, you need to take the road from Porto Colom to Porto Cristo and once you have passed the turn off for Manacor, take the right hand turn that is signed to Cala Falco. Park up at a fence on the right-hand side. There is a path that will take you to the beach here (about 15 minutes). The beach has white sand and the water is clear and fairly deep. There are no services.

Good for - quiet

Camp de Mar Beach

Camp de Mar is situated in a sheltered spot, protected against the wind. This medium-sized beach has fine, golden-white sand and shallow calm waters. The sea is a fabulous green colour and there are little rocky coves to explore. It is a great spot for families, but it does get crowded in the summer months, leaving less space for playing. There are some beach restaurants (one of which is on an island that can be accessed by a wooden bridge) and pedalos are available for hire.

Good for - families, beauty

Playa de Muro Beach

Playa de Muro is a beautiful six kilometre long white sandy beach that is generally quieter than neighbouring Alcudia beach because of its out of town location. Great for families and water sport enthusiasts, it is also well served by restaurants and cafes along the beach front. Despite being backed by many resort hotels, the beach is long enough that you can usually find your own quiet spot if you are prepared to walk!

Good for - families, water sports

Playa de Palma Beach

Playa de Palma is a long stretch of beach to the east of Palma. It is made up of several different beaches, including Ca'n Pere Antoni (closest to Plama), C'an Pastilla and S'Arenal. It is a lovely, wide beach with golden white sand and there is a good variety of fun water sports available. Other beach sports (football, volleyball etc) are also popular here because of the depth of the beach, and it's proximity to Palma. This area is popular with German tourists, and the built up resorts of Can Pastilla and S'Arenal make these beaches very busy in the summer months. Behind the beaches you will find a traffic-free promenade and a cycle path, where there is a great choice of bars, cafes and restaurants. The shallow, clear water is suitable for children (although there have been some recent complaints about the amount of algae in the water), and there is usually plenty of space for playing. You can park for free in the streets behind the beach.

Good for - families, sports, watersports

Port de Pollenca Beach

Port de Pollenca is a lovely wide beach that has been artificially enhanced with the help of the installation of some breakwaters. Even though it is a resort town, the beach is a lot less crowded than the beach in Alcudia so there is more space for everyone. You still get the beautiful views of the mountains, but with a little more peace and quiet. The shallow water makes it suitable for children. Windsurfing is very popular here, thanks to its position in the bay of Pollenca. There are free car parking facilities, and a host of shops and restaurants along the beach front.

Good for - families, windsurfing

Puerto Portals / Portals Nous Beach

The beach at Puerto Portals (to the east of the harbour) is a small family beach frequented by locals. In itself it is nothing very special - the usual soft golden sand with clear shallow waters - but what IS special about this beach is the beach bar at the end of promontory. Roxy's beach bar is one of those places that you stop in for a quick refreshment, and end up staying until the sun goes down. Popular with yachts, it is one of our favorites on the island. For a full report on the bar, take at look at our Beach Life Report.

Best for - beach bar

S'Amarador Beach

Recently (2009) voted Europes Best Beach, S'Amarador is a glorious white sand beach that is part of Mondrago National Park, and so is beautifully unspoilt. Surrounded by cliffs and pine forests, the beach is made from soft white sand and is small but deep. This is one of our favourite beaches on the island - its relatively isolated location means only those with cars or boats can access it. And the colour of the sea is truly spectacular - a deep, deep turquoise. There are a number of bars and restaurants, and free car parking is available. There are a number of walking trails in the area - highly recommended so that you can appreciate the true beauty of the place.

Good for - nature & beauty.

Sa Rapita Beach

An alternative to Es Trenc is the beach at S'Arenal de sa Rapita. It is much quieter than Es Trenc, and is popular with families, surfers and windsurfers. The wide beach consists of fine white sand and the clear shallow water is a beautiful shade of turquoise. The beach backs on to sand dunes and a pine forest, making it one of the more beautiful natural beaches on the island. Sa Rapita is situated 11 kilometres from Campos and there is a pay car park at the beach.

Good for - families, windsurfers

Sant Pere Beach

Sant Pere, Mal Pas is a charming small beach snuggles between two rocky stretches of coastline. You can enjoy beautiful views of the Formentor peninsula from the fine white sand beach. The clear and shallow waters make it suitable for children, although there is not so much space available for playing. The beach is situated close to the village of Mal Pas, and there are free car parking facilities. A small beach bar (and one toilet) are the only services provided on this beach.

Good for - beauty spot

So obviously beaches aren't the only factor with regards to the property Mallorca market but hopefully our little review will have given you a helping hand in choosing where to buy property in Mallorca.
