How to Build Opt In Mailing Lists for Lead Nurturing

Know that building a responsive mailing list is going to take time, but it is well worth the time and effort required. An Opt-In list is for sure a marketer's best asset. One can be a successful marketer only when they help their subscribers succeed. You can build lists through registration on your website, trade shows, sponsored blasts, etc.

1.Grow your lists organically: Create an option for customers to opt in to your subscriber lists at every touch point. Sending emails to rented or purchased lists might seem like a short-cut to success, but it harms the reputation in the long run.

2.Prominently display subscription options on your website: Rather than relying on a subscription form that shows up in a few places on the website like the shopping cart or during the check out process, prominently display a subscription form on most pages in your website.

3.Create a Squeeze Page/Landing Page: Design your website cleverly to drive most of your traffic to Landing Pages. Present attractive offers in these landing pages, allowing customers to fill in their names and e-mail addresses, so they can receive free offers and information.

4.Set up a Profile Page: where subscribers can choose how often to hear from you and the type of information they want to get from you.

5.Opt-In Form:Your opt-in form should not just collect the email address, but also inform subscribers about the kind of communication they should be expecting (newsletters, free offers, coupons, whitepapers and other information). Also, inform them about the delivery schedule than will be followed (once/week or thrice/week or once/month). It's important to let them know that they can opt-out at a later point in time, if so desired.

6.Send a welcome message within 24hours: Don't miss on the opportunity to interact with subscribers when they are the most engaged. Sending a simple welcome message acts as a reminder that they have opted in to your mailing list, reducing the number of complaints. Welcome messages also validate the subscriber's email addresses.

7.Double Opt-In or Confirmation Opt-In: This is a standard practice to verify email address as well as to confirm subscription. Once a user subscribes from the website, a confirmation email is sent to that email address. Only after the confirmation link is clicked the user is added to the database. Thus eliminating the chance of abuse, where a subscriber submits someone else's email id without their knowledge or permission.

8.Build lists offline: Clerks can be instructed to collect email addresses during the checkout process. Also, customer service reps can end calls asking people to subscribe to their newsletters or special offer emails. You can organize a free public seminar directly related to your area of business, product or service and ask participants to complete information cards with their names and e-mail addresses.

9.Word of mouth marketing: Try building email lists by giving a free giveaway or discounts or a new product demo or trial offer and spread the word through family, friends or current customers. Also have a Forward to Friend option at the beginning and end of each of your emails. If their friend's like your offers, they could opt in to your mailing list too.
