You don’t have to travel far on your cheap holidays to find the best bars in the world. Indeed, in a recent review 17 of the top 100 spots were filled up by bars in the capital alone. Sadly, no London bars make it into the top five spots, but with the second spot filled up by a bar from Manchester it certainly proves that when it comes to classy nightspots the UK has what it takes. Here are the top five bars as recommended by reviewers on the World’s Best Bars website: Berlin Berlin is a city known for its nightlife, but that nightlife usually encompasses techno and industrial clubs, not sleek bars classed as the best in the world. The Saphire Bar is a whisky lover’s paradise, offering up drams of rare and unique whiskies from all over the world. With comfortable white leather sofas, the bar gives off an upmarket vibe that at the same time is not pretentious. If whisky isn’t your thing then you’ll find an extensive cocktail list, with cocktails all expertly mixed by the bar staff. The mojitos are said to be incredible. Manchester If you want a welcome change from Manchester’s identical bars, then get yourself down to the kitsch and fun Keko Moku in the Northern Quarter. The cocktails are served in themed vessels. Bring some friends along for a great evening and enjoy a selection of shared drinks such as the Scorpion bowl and Captain Lyndon’s Pirate Chest. Lisbon There are plenty of sights that you should check out while on your cheap holidays but forget the usual attractions, and check out the Manga Rossa lounge. Thee world’s third best bar is an unusual mixture of opulent and industrial; a blend that works surprisingly well. Exposed pipes and ventilation shafts are set against white gauze and tea-lights, whilst videos are projected onto the wall. When night falls, the entertainment programme starts up and provides a mixture of live music and club nights, which are ideal for those who wish to dance the night away. Bangkok The stunning views of the Bangkok skyline from the Vertigo bar at the Banyan Tree Lounge are worth scouring your paper for late deals for. This open-air bar based on the 61st floor comes with an incredible view and is therefore best enjoyed at night when Bangkok is all lit up below you. Grab yourself a cocktail, adorned with crushed ice and orchid, and pore over the dinner menu, which features a fantastic range of seafood dishes, including the signature Grilled Sea bass with Citrus Salsa and Cilantro. Miami Miami has many cool bars frequented by the A-List, but sadly some of them are a little on the pretentious side. This is perhaps why the Purdy Lounge is considered such a welcome addition to Miami’s nightlife scene. Attracting a laid-back group of regulars, Purdy’s claims to offer the best Margaritas in Miami and the bar certainly has a lot of competition! The feel of the place is retro with lava lamps, purple bar stools and surreal pictures dotted around the place. Open daily until 5am it’s the perfect place to chill with friends and enjoy a relaxed game of pool.
