Organic Search MarketingOwning a business is no easy task. Your job is to keep your business afloat, no matter what the cost. When it comes to owning an online business, the task gets even harder. With a website comes more opportunities to make money and expand your business – unfortunately, it also means a lot more work for you and your employees. As you’ve probably figured out, it takes more than just owning a website to start producing results. In order for your business to thrive online, you need customers. You need to do some internet marketing to attract customers. There are a thousand ways to attract visitors – some are worth your time, and most aren’t. Today, we’re going to talk about organic search marketing. Organic search marketing, otherwise known as search engine optimization, consists of promoting your website until it reaches the top pages of the search results for keyphrases you want. For example, if you owned a flip flop company, you’d want to target phrases like “buy flip flops online”, or “cheap flip flops” in your search engine marketing campaign. If you get a top result for one of these keywords, you’ll see a lot of traffic coming in, and the best part is that traffic will continue to come until someone overtakes your position in the results. To gain ranks, you’ll need to build a lot of links to your site. By this I mean that you want to have other sites linking to your site and individual pages, ideally with the anchor text being one of your targeted search phrases. Paid Search MarketingPaid search marketing is a little different than organic search marketing. While it’s still search engine marketing, it really doesn’t take much work. Google something right now, and look at the top 3 results (in the yellow “SPONSORED” box). Those sites have all paid for the privilege of being there. In fact, they pay each and every time someone clicks on one of their ads. Paid search marketing is very effective, but also very expensive, so I would recommend sticking to organic marketing if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on promotion.
