When a person has been injured, physical therapy is often the best method to help that patient recover after a debilitating injury. Patients recovering from shoulder injuries are a common sight in a physical therapy clinic. Many of these patients are athletes who may have suffered an injury participating in a sport. Shoulder injuries may also be the result of falls and spills. Some of the most common shoulder injuries include shoulder separation, thoracic outlet syndrome, frozen shoulder, and bicep tendon rupture. To help a patient suffering from a shoulder injury to regain mobility after an accident, a physical therapist will typically assist the patient in a few essential exercises. Post-operative shoulder exercises are imperative to help a patient regain the mobility they once had so that they can continue to use their shoulder as normally as possible. It's important to start these exercises with a physical therapist as soon as your doctor recommends. Too much delay can result in muscle weakness and stiffness. Another post-shoulder injury exercise is a pectoral stretch. Stretches of the pectoral muscles will help increase mobility in daily activities. Rotator cuff exercises are also essential. Your rotator cuff is a group of four muscles that helps lift and rotate your arm away from your body. Any stiffness and muscle weakness in this area can make every day tasks impossible. Once your therapist and your doctor devise a recovery workout program, it's important to stick with it so that you can regain full use of your shoulder. Shoulder injuries are some of the most common injuries treated by physical therapists. It's important to follow closely the exercise program devised by your physical therapist Shelby NC .
