|
Michigan medical negligence attorneys recently settled a case against the United States of America. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan on behalf of a mother who sought damages for the brain damage and death of her infant son. The lawsuit alleged that during her labor the treating obstetrician went of a Federally funded medical facility in Jackson, Michigan. It alleges that the doctors in the hospital failed to act appropriately to respond to depressed fetal heart rates and did not perform a C-Section in a timely manner. The lawsuit alleged that as a result the child suffered permanent damage to his brain and lungs. He was kept alive on life support machines, but, ultimately, passed away several months later. The lawsuit settled for $600,000.00 before trial.
