LED Motorcycle Driving Lights -- Repairing Electrical Issues On The Bike

Internet
Dilemma. I require a tiny advice. I got some LED motorcycle driving lights set up and they worked fine for a 12 months. At present they blow the inline fuse each time I flip them on. I unmounted the PIAA lights from the highway bar and at present the fuse no lengthier blows out. I put a voltmeter on the hanging PIAA mild metal casing while they are on and the voltmeter reads 12V. Ouch, I appear within one particular of the PIAA lights and they are internally grounded to a screw inside of the casing. Considering that I can go through 12V although touching the casing of the lights, does this mean their is bare metal touching the hot wire or does it indicate my floor is lousy?

This is taking place on two separate Kingpins that have these kinds of LED motorcycle driving lights put in. I checked the draw when the lights are on and not mounted to the metal freeway bars. It is lower. I am capable to use a 15 amp fuse with out it blowing. If you have any ideas on what is triggering this, make sure you let me know. I am guessing I have a negative floor given that the wiring within and outside the lights appears great with no uncovered wires. With both bulbs removed and the PIAA casings hooked up to the bike, no blown fuse. And my other set of smaller halogens driving lights remain on. I will change the bulbs.

Resolution. I changed the lamp and nevertheless had the small. Not a single to give up I disassembled my LED motorcycle driving lights. Since the outside PIAA casing was even now reading 12Volts I new that a thing internal to the light was not getting grounded properly. On 1 of the PIAAs I reassembled stage by phase, checking for the quick as I went. I received the the very last screw that retains on the front casing with the lens and checked. The fuse blew. Okay, the screw is contacting the internat lights element. The insulation must have worn out. So I set a thin piece of rubber above the hole and then reattached the bolt. This solved the issue on the left PIAA. The exterior casing now go through proper volts.

The right casing was a small diverse. It was shorting out without even connecting the screws. So I took this apart and put back together. This fixed the issue and the right PIAA casing now reads proper Volts and no more shorts of the fuse. I feel I sacrificed fifty fuses to resolve this and purchased substitution PIAA lights that I most probably did not require. Now I have some spares. I know this situation is occurring on an additional Kingpin and I wager it is the same situation in which the internal gorunding of the LED motorcycle driving lights are compromised by way of years.
