If you want your bathroom to exude artistic elegance, then wooden cabinets can be a great choice. Quality wood never goes out of fashion and will stand the test of time if treated and protected properly. Whilst it’s no secret that contemporary bathrooms with straight fine lines and smooth surfaces are undoubtedly in fashion, wooden bathrooms have a timeless appeal that is unlikely to diminish any time in the future. This is great news if you intend to sell your home at some point in the future. Whilst contemporary bathrooms which are now at the forefront of interior style may fade in popularity much like the infamous avocado bathroom back in the 80s, stylish wooden bathrooms are unlikely to do the same. There are many varieties of wood that can make up wooden bathroom furniture, i.e. mahogany, pine, walnut, but the most popular choice by far is teak. Choosing Teak Wood Many homeowners who want wooden bathroom cabinets will choose teak wood (a rich, golden brown hardwood grown in tropical countries, such as Thailand and Indonesia) which is often regarded as the ideal wood for bathrooms. It is attractive, smooth to the touch, and does not call for regular polishing or oiling, as many other varieties do. This is a great time saver, especially for people who do not enjoy cleaning! Importantly, it is also incredibly sturdy and durable, resisting insects (due to its rich silica and natural oil content) and everyday wear and tear. Additionally, unlike some types of wood, teak is not damaged by contact with water, which is good news as it is hard to avoid water within a bathroom! With so many appealing qualities, it’s no real wonder that teak is the number one choice for wooden bathroom cabinets. Teak is a little more expensive than other varieties of wood, but for an investment that will last you well into the future, there is no better. For a new bathroom and the materials used within it there should be considerations made for the durability, cost and of course the look of the amterials used. Teak wood ticks all of the boxes.
