Every animal has a different nature and while some dogs may love water, there are others that absolutely hate it. And even if you are dog loves water, bathing them isn’t the easiest job in the world as they can be really fidgety and restless. For this reason, many pet owners tend to bathe their dog only once in a blue moon. This poses a real health hazard both for the animal and the people who mingle with it because an unhygienic canine is at greater risk of contracting diseases. So never ignore your pet’s health and give it a good brush every 15 days. It may seem like a monumental task if your pet isn’t co-operative and I have had my fair share (my 3 dogs, 1 labrador and 2 German Shepherds are extremely mischievous) but with the right preparation, bathing can be a great adventure both for you and your beloved canine. So here goes my first tip – Brush your animal’s fur coat before pouring water over their bodies (don’t follow this advice if your animal isn’t fury). This would remove any kind of knots thus making it easier for you to bathe them. Fill a tub with lukewarm water that should reach up to your dog’s knees. Now lift your dog and coax it to step into the water. This may seem tough but a little bit of praise and encouragement must do the trick. However if your pet is unruly, be strict and order it in an authoritarian voice. Once this is done, hold them in place with one hand and then pour water over their coat with the other. You could also use the shower nozzle to perform this task (I personally don’t use it because my dogs tend to bite at the nozzle). Gently apply dog shampoo over its body and then with a soft brush, start the cleaning process, making sure that you thoroughly clean each and every region of the animal’s body. It is advised that you use a sponge to clean their face because a brush has a possibility of getting into the eyes. Rinse thoroughly using clean water making sure that you don’t leave any shampoo behind. Thereafter dry your dog with a couple of towels and then give your dog enough space to dry on its own. A vigorous shake is all that it takes to remove the remaining sticking water. Use a blow dryer if you have one and keep it on low heat. You need to especially clean to the ears and ensure that it is dry as damp places can be thriving grounds for bacteria. Don’t forget to praise your dog for its obedience and then leave it to its own elements. Well, wasn’t that fun? The author says that pet supplies such as shampoos need to be of good quality and should not contain any harsh chemicals. He hopes that this article has proven useful to the readers.
