Throughout the world, we are given a so-called choice of various religions. Depending on what particular country we live in, that tends to be the deciding factor of what religion that is forced upon us. If we live in a Muslim country, most likely that is the religion that we choose, supposedly. If we live our life in a Christian country, then that is the likely religion that is thrust upon us. Then, we of course proclaim that it was divine Will that we were given to that particular religion, miraculously. No matter what religion we belong to we must ask ourselves if it has meaning. As human beings, we move from one extreme to the next in search of the truth. From indulgence today to renunciation tomorrow. We are forever thinking we can find happiness free of all sorrow in one institution or another. We cling to one thing and deny all others. Surely, all the world religions and fundamentalists believe they can bring about religiosity by conformity. The truth of religion cannot be forced by any means whatsoever. That must come of its own accord when we look into what we are and see the truth for ourselves. If we are truly serious and honest in our endeavor to discover what religion is, we must look within ourselves and not to anyone or anything. No one can free us. Spiritual freedom is a journey within oneself. If we are truly interested in seeing if there is something beyond this life, we must understand what we are in everyday life. Obviously, we are divided within ourselves. We must see that religion is an exploration into knowing oneself through relating with others. Through others, we can see ourselves. Religion, not belonging to any particular religious organization, is seeing the real within oneself. Religion means to penetrate that which is real beyond all illusions and superficialities. Spirituality is the wholeness of this perception in which one can see the truth beyond this mortal life. In spirituality, we discover the deep quest for the meaning of this life. It is a movement within to discover truth beyond religious ideologies and formalities. Within oneself, you discover reality that transcends the veil of this universe. To look within means to go beyond the depths of ones own consciousness to find peace, harmony, and love. This is the core of spiritual fulfillment. The vital factor is that, if we do not find a way to live in harmony with all life, we will surely destroy this magnificent earth and ourselves. That would be the greatest tragedy. After all, if man destroys the earth, what will become of humanity and all the things that live on this beautiful planet? Being trapped in the darkness of ignorance, we seek within the field of knowledge for the glory of truth. Truth cannot be found in any book, any religious building, or any particular belief. The glory of the divine is the very nature of our true being and there is no method that can lead us to what we are in truth. The false cannot lead man to the real. Through the division within ourselves, we fail to awaken to this fact. In the understanding of all this, we realize that spirituality is the actual discovery of divine intelligence that is beyond our religious beliefs. In this, there is no division as all life is one. It is the flowering of goodness, purity, and compassion. A spiritually realized human being is concerned with the wholeness of humanity and the harmony of all living and non-living things. This uncreated living flame of eternity is devoid of all darkness. It is the timeless and it is our true reality. In this truth, we discover we are the divine love that was never born and will never taste death. Spiritual Teacher Adonis Alexander Adonis Alexander Spiritual Website
