1. Focus on how do the users think Users are the main and the vital part of designing a website. The first step while designing should always be from the side of how will the user think for a website to be. 2. Visitors always appreciate creativity and credibility Creativity attracts the visitors to view the website and creates a mark and credibility always adds to the beauty of the website by increasing its worth. The visitor then views the website as providing authentic information. 3. Visitor do not read the website, they scan through it Visitors never read the whole text for the first time so important points should be high lighted with effective writing. 4. Use effective writing Effective writing and usability of good words are appreciated by the users of the website. They should always be used in every website design. 5. Simplicity should be achieved Simplicity should always be incorporated as it is always admired by the visitors. 6. Choose contrasting colors Contrasting colors such as red and white for Christmas event are easy to understand as well as easy to read. 7. Incorporate design elements A design element diverts the user attention towards a specific point. Hence design elements should be used for important points. For example a big arrow that point towards a specific part will always attract the visitor’s attention towards itself. 8. Provide a line spacing Line spacing helps the visitor to read about the website easily. 9. Allow white space Too much text is irritating. Hence allow some white space in the website design. 10. Navigation should be easy Visitors are always confused from where to go and how to go therefore navigation should be kept easy. 11. The typography should be selected properly Typography such as font size, shape, color, line length, paragraphing e.t.c should be selected with care. 12. Adherence of some common standards Common standards such as underlined words or sentences are viewed as links, should always be followed. 13. List out a task the users can do Tasks such as shopping through the website or learn about what we do should be listed down. 14. Alignment should be incorporated Everything should be in a straight line and should be ordered and structured. 15. There should be consistency in alignments and topography Alignments and topography should have consistency in them else the website looks extremely awful. 16. Proximity help the visitor to view similar tasks Similar tasks should be grouped in one column so that it is easy to view them. 17. Repeat the design in header and footer The repetition of the design forms a consistency in the website. 18. Communicate with an effective language An effective and good language is always appreciated by the visitors. It should always be incorporated in the website. 19. The web page should be self-explanatory The web page should not be confusing. It should clearly specify the idea of web page. 20. Don’t open links in new windows The user is always irritated with new links that pop up in another window. They always want some control. website design perth
