There are few types of migraine that a person can have during its lifetime, all having the same basic features and every person will suffer from the headache in a special way. Migraine begins almost all the time as a dull ache and develops in a pulsating, throbbing and constant pain that a person can in front or back of the head or at the temples. During the pre-headache stage, all the blood vessels constrict. When the blood vessels dilate, the migraine begins. Almost all the people are suffering according to scientific studies from two to four migraines per month. But there are people that can experience this condition every day. The pain can start at any moment of the day or night and last from one to several hours. Even the pain is disturbing, a migraine will rarely awake somebody during the night. Almost 40 percent of the persons experience an aura before the pain starts. This types of migraine will make you experience some visual disturbances during the headache, that is a manifestation of neurological sufferings. Normally, the aura starts from ten to thirty minutes before the pain in the skull. You can see jagged lines or wavy, flashing lights or dots or you can have a tunnel vision. The aura can have also disruptions in smell and hearing hallucinations. All these neurological symptoms can last forty five minutes. The hemiplegic migraine is a types of migraine that is not very common. You can have a family history of it and the pain starts with a temporary sensory or motor paralysis, which can be accompanied by a sensation of needles and pins. The ophthalmoplegic migraine is a severe and rare types of migraine. It is identified by the pain that is surrounding the eyeball and can last for days. If you have the symptoms of these migraines, go immediately to the doctor because it can be a problem of the nerves behind the eyes. Another rare type of migraine is the retinal one. It starts with complete, partial or temporary loss of vision in one of the eyes. It is followed in minutes by a dull ache. The basilar artery migraine is a rare type of migraine accompanied by lack of balance, confusion and dizziness. It can start suddenly and can have ugly symptoms, including vomiting, ringing in the ears, inability to speak properly and visual disturbances. This type of migraine is related almost all the time with hormones and is common for some adolescent girls or adult women. With the age, this type will be replaced by the migraine with aura.
