The manager of FC Barcelona, Pep Guardiola, recently said that the club management hadn't given any fixed date for him to renew his contract with the club. This simply implies that - irrespective of the striking achievements he made within the past 3 years, he hasn't made up his mind to remain with the Spanish soccer giants. When any opportunity presents itself, the media always asks him about his future with the catalan club, as to whether he'll stay or leave. His response though, has not revealed much. Ahead of their most recent La Liga match encounter againgst Sporting Gijon, the Barcelona manager hinted that he was yet to sign a new contract; though he made it clear that he won't be pushed into doing so. He further said that he doesn't feel compelled to sign a new contract with the club, and that the press would get news to the effect of any contract renewal when the right time comes. The successful coach (with 3 La Liga titles) highlighted that he has a strong bond with the club's president, Sandro Rosell, the management, and all field players. He admitted that he and the president regularly meet at the latter's house; or at the club's training ground in Camp Nou. He further stated that he loves the club and is grateful for the opportunity that was given him to achieve all that he has, as manager of the club for the past 3 years. He also thanked the president for listening to him and asking for his opinion on certain issues, especially when they seemed to matter the most. Also, he said he's happy to be under this type of board management because no misunderstandings exists between both sides of the club. Although there were media rumors about a possible move - by Guardiola - to coach the Mexican club, Chivas, he denied the possibility of such actions, saying that he had no intention of going to Mexico in the nearest future. As it stands now, FC Barcelona won their latest La Liga match at home against Sporting Gijon. This win leaves them in 2nd place on the primera divison table, 7 points behind fierce rivals and current La Liga table-toppers Real Madrid, with the latter having a match in hand.
