It flows eastward to join the Kaveri River and this, in turn, flows into the Bay of Bengal. On its course, the Kabini River forms a huge reservoir near Sargur Town. The reservoir is an important perennial water source. The Kabini Dam, situated between the villages of Bichanahalli and Bidarahalli, is 2,284 ft. in height. It has a storage capacity of 19.52 tmcft. Two other dams, Banasura Sagar and Karapura irrigation dam are built over the tributaries of the Kabini River. Declared as a national park in 1974, Nagarahole National Park is said to be one of the best habitat for Asiatic elephants. There is a big congregation of elephants during the peak summer. This can be witnessed during the jungle safari in a jeep. Tourists to Kabini can also enjoy the elephant safari, jungle safari and boating in the Kabini River. An old Ganesha temple, situated on the Kabini River bank, is another attraction for the tourists. Due to easy accessibility, Kabini has become a popular tourist destination over the years.
