Covex is the brand name for an mesh effect adhesive plastic covering specifically designed to create a tint effect for car head and tail lights. It is also suitable for motorbike lights. It is legal for road use in most countries throughout the world. With a medium impact adhesive, it is easy to apply and remove. The specially developed tough laminate coating gives all weather protection against most road chemicals and salt. Unlike other inferior headlight films, Covex film is not sold direct to the general public and can only be obtained through approved installers. It should be noted that high energy bulbs such as Xenon may cause excessive heat and so Covex should be used with caution. If the bulbs are shielded with a silvered tip or cowling, then normally Covex installation is acceptable. Covex will not substantially change either the light beam shape or intensity and so is legal in most countries around the world. Covex material is a specially developed PET substrate. A scratch resistant coating is applied to the top of the film during the manufacturing processes. The purpose of the coating is to protect the film from minor abrasions and cleaning solvents. Developed through many years of laboratory testing and proven by field applications, Covex provides tough resistance for road and other usage. The pressure sensitive adhesive has also been especially constructed to allow maximum adhesion to glass, polycarbonate and most plastics. The adhesive allows removal if required. A Pressure Sensitive adhesive forms an immediate mechanical bond to glass and becomes marginally stronger during the curing/drying process. The reaction is similar to every day adhesive tape. The adhesive is in a ready state of usage and simply requires slight pressure to bond with a surface. The installation process is not only designed to remove mounting solution, but the firm press against the glass also initiates the PS adhesion process. The primary benefit of Pressure Sensitive adhesive is quick adhesion, although the bond is not complete until the film is finally cured. Pressure Sensitive films make the application process easier when working alone or in tight spaces. That’s why Pressure Sensitive films are the preferred option for automotive applications. Covex film is suitable for most vehicle lights. It is also suitable for other uses such as installing on plastic caravan windows or providing one way vision on residential or office windows.
