Audi India lifted the covers off the upgraded Audi A4 sedan today in Mumbai amid much fanfare and a pompous show put by the German auto maker. The car is rolled out in three trim levels, one petrol and two diesel variants. Now let us throw some more light on the new Audi A4 sedan and know what is new in the 2013 Audi A4. The booking of the new Audi A4 will be commenced from tomorrow onwards. Launched at a starting price of Rs 27.33 lakh (e-showroom Maharashtra), the new A4 now comes fitted with a fresh 6 point grille, similar to the one affixed in Audi A5. Along with this finished head lights with LED daytime running lights, new front fascia, rear bumpers and revamped tail lights with LED strips are some of the evident changes in the sedan. In comparison to its predecessor, the sedan is a bit bigger in size, it is slightly longer and the length varies between 4.7 to 4.72 meters depending on the variant. It also dons a new wheelbase of 2.81 meters, which is the longest wheelbase in its segment. 2013 Audi A4 is now available in three engine options, 1.8 liter TFSI, 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI mills. The petrol engine that is the 1.8 liter TFSI engine is capable of pumping out 170 BHP of power between 4500 to 6200 RPM and a peak torque of 250 NM between 1500 to 4500 RPM. The petrol engine offers a mileage of 15.64 km/l as per the ARAI. On the other hand the 2.0 liter TDI diesel powertrain pumps out maximum power of 143 BHP at 4200 RPM along with the maximum torque of 320 Nm between 1750 to 2500 RPM. The diesel engine returns a mileage of 16.55 km/l. The 3.0 L diesel powerplant churns out 245 BHP of power between 4000 to 4400 RPM and a robust torque of 500 NM between 1500 to 3000 RPM. The engine is reciprocated to a 7 speed S Tronic transmission that supplies power to the wheels through the Quttro Permanent All Wheel Drive. Audi A4 is said to be 10% more frugal that its forerunner. The all new Audi A4 will gun straight against the new BMW 3-Series which is yet to make its debut in the domestic market and the upgraded Mercedes Benz C Class. Prior to Audi A4 launch in India, the company introduced a reworked Audi TT in March 2012 and now Audi Q3 is all set to debut in June 2012. Audi recently toppled Mercedes Benz India from its second spot and now it eyes to gain the numero uno position by the year 2015 which as of now belongs to BMW India. Audi will launch the Audi Q3 compact SUV in June followed with the launch of Audi S6 later this year.
