In the beginning of Mixed Martial Arts, MMA gloves were not used. However, everything changed in 1993 when UFC, Ultimate Fighting Championship, competition in the US requested using them as mandatory. Now MMA gloves are a fixture and a requirement in all matches involving Mixed Martial Arts. These gloves function in two ways: they protect the fists of the fighter from being damaged or injured and they also make it possible for the fighter to deal a destructive blow. As all MMA gloves have an open palm and open fingers, they allow a fighter to move his hand much better. The four types of MMA gloves according to their purpose are sparring gloves, bag gloves, fight gloves, and hybrid gloves. Sparring gloves are usually used in practice bouts, hence their other names: practice or training gloves. There are two types of sparring gloves, namely the traditional ones with finger slots, and the nontraditional one with a padded striking area and finger loops. The choice of gloves to spar or train with will depend on what the fighter wants or is most comfortable with. Among all MMA gloves, sparring gloves have more generous padding. Impact is minimized when bag gloves are used because they are specifically designed for use in training with a bag or striking pads. Aside from denser padding, a grip bar and increased support for the wrist are also provided for. They should never be used for sparring or fighting because they can be quite injurious. They are made for bag hitting only. Fight gloves, as they name states, are designed for MMA fighting. Compared to sparring gloves, these gloves are a lot less padded. These gloves that are designed for competitions have very little to no padding at all. They are very light, at merely 4 oz. Therefore, never spar with these gloves on. Hybrid gloves combine all the features of the above mentioned gloves. Basically, they can be classified as sparring gloves, bag gloves, and fight gloves. However, most experts advise to spend a little money and have all three types of gloves if one wants to practice MMA professionally. In a competition, new fight gloves will give you an edge by way of providing protection. A handwrap is encouraged to be used beneath any of these gloves so as to soften the impact of the punches. It is advisable to use handwraps not only in competition, but when sparring as well. MMA gloves have two sizes: 4 oz and 6 oz. For beginners, the densely padded 6 oz will provide maximum fist protection. For MMA professionals and competitors, the 4 oz will be ideal. Choose MMA gloves that have double stitches rather than those with single stitches because they will serve you longer. When it comes to cleaning the gloves, washing is not advisable. Make it a point to use a bandage so as to keep the interior of the gloves clean. Get your high quality yet affordable brazilian jiu jitsu products. Visit http://www.freestylecustoms.net/kimonos.htm
