Job security is like a ladder, and you’re either climbing it, or falling down it. One day you’re up a few rungs of the ladder, doing fine. All of a sudden your company fires half of its employees, and after working so hard to climb that ladder, you’re slipping downward. Back into the job market you go, with no prevail. Even worse than not finding a job, you get interview after interview, opening after opening, but no one wants you. You don’t have a degree. Or even worse than that! You have a degree, but no one wants you because your degree is no longer of use to the emerging job markets. If the USA is the world leader, how many Americans hold the advantage in competitive higher education? How about this statistic? 150 million Americans, over the age of 18, don’t have a degree! And here’s a cold hard fact: Within the next decade, you won’t even be so much as considered for almost half of all job openings. And once again, just having a degree could possibly doom you even more. Having a degree shows employers that you have high expectations. They won’t even want to talk to you; they’ll consider you over-qualified, maybe even for a job your education didn’t prepare you for. With no degree, or an out-of-date degree, and even no job and ever-shrinking savings, higher education is your best bet. How will you afford a degree? Even with no money, there are plenty of ways you can get financial support to earn your degree! Take advantage of the friends you have in high places, like the President to you state officials.
