Nokia give away a few secrets about their ‘iPhone killer’. Enough to keep Nokia fans eagerly waiting. Mobile manufacturer Nokia have confirmed that they are working on a touchscreen handset to take on Apple’s iPhone. The phone has been codenamed Tube, and will be Nokia’s first touch device. There is still very little information about the Tube, as it is only in very early stages as yet, but it does sound like an exciting device. From the few pictures floating around on the internet it does look identical to the iPhone, with a nice big screen covering the front side. With the codename Tube and the large screen it is definitely aimed to being a video device, with good web browsing capabilities and possibly DVB-H digital mobile TV capable. The only things known about it at present are that it will be entirely touch controlled as it doesn’t look to have any hard keys on the front, it will allow photos to be uploaded to the internet, and it will support Java – which the iPhone doesn’t officially support yet. Nokia will surely be trying to get the Tube out to compete with the rumoured 3G Apple iPhone that fans are waiting for. With the amount of handsets that Nokia can shift, and the loyal fans they should have no problem creating a buzz about the Tube. The Nokia N95 certainly was, and still is, a very popular multimedia mobile phone. There is absolutely no word on pricing or a release date as yet, no doubt there will be many people ‘watching this space’ to find out more information on Nokia’s Tube device.
