Eid is the great festival of India, it is celebrated in all over the world. All Indian as well all the People who belongs to Muslim religion are celebrate this festival with lot of joy. Eid marks the end of Ramzan, and Ramzan is the month of fasting and abstinence. It is also synonymous with breaking bread with the family and savoring traditional cuisine. If Eid in India translates as sinfully sweet sevaiyan or sheer kurma, badaam phirni, aromatic gosht biryani, haleem, shami kebabs, mutton korma, pasanda and zafrani murgh, then see what people cooking across the globe on this Eid. In India so many food festivals are happening on the occasion of Eid Mumbarak. Pakistani tables are laden with shami kebabs, lamb chops, kabuli pulao, kimme wali tikki, badami murgh and of course the traditional sevaiyan dusted with slivered almonds, quite akin to Eid cuisine in India. Did you try all these special Food? The Bangladeshi version of sevaiyan is called shemai and traditionally served on Eid. In Afghanistan the tables heave with murghe kabob served with shor nakhod, semyan and cake wa kolcha. All over the world thousands of restaurant organizing food festival events. The Egyptians celebrate Eid with the traditional Kahk or cookies filled with nuts and dusted with powdered sugar. In Tunisia, Lebanon and Turkey Eid is celebrated with Baklava or pastry sandwiched with pistachios and cinnamon, drizzled with honey. Egyptian and Tunisian people busy with special food festtival in there special restaurant whose provide the special Eid dishes. Moroccans celebrate Eid with traditional fare. Sweet rolls called Krachel, made from orange flower water, sesame seeds, flour and anise while Msemen are square pancakes eaten with honey and melted butter. Mechoie is the traditional spit-roasted leg of lamb while Seffa Medfouna which is saffron infused chicken or lamb covered with couscous and broken vermicelli. Across Indonesia, Brunei and Malaysia the Eid specialties gracing the table include: Opor Ayam (chicken in coconut milk), Ketupat or rice wrapped in a palm leaf pouch and boiled, making dumplings which are traditionally eaten with Rendang. The spicy beef / chicken / mutton curry simmered in coconut milk and spices, called Rendang is made on festive occasions like Eid. Lemang is a glutinous rice cake steamed in hollow bamboos, served for Eid. The sweet finale is dodol, a sticky, toffee like sweet made from rice flour, jaggery and coconut milk. Whichever way you look at it, Eid Mubarak across the globe is synonymous with tables heaving with traditional, rich and delicious cuisine. What's cooking this Eid the world over?
If Eid is round the corner, can good food be far behind? That too in Dilli known for its gastronomical delights. Well, that seems the spirit as food joints after joints dish out special Eid food—yummy kebabs and all. Speaking about the platter, Rajiv of Kasbah says, “We started this the first time this year and haven’t really positioned it as a full course meal. It is more of an appetizer spread.” In the spread are veg as well as non veg platter. The non vegetarian platter includes Fish Tikka, Gulafi Sheekh, Mutton Sheekh, Chicken Churga, Murg Malai Tikka, Amritsari Fish Tikka. Of these, Gulafi Sheekh, Chicken Churga and Amritsari Fish Tikka are special for Eid. The vegetarian platter includes Tandoori Broccoli, Paneer Tikka, Kumbh Nawabi (tandoori mushroom) and Hara Bhara (mix veg and palak kebabs). Each platter will have a mixed assortment of one each of the various kebab types.Additionally, each platter will include Sewain too! Yummy! What’s nice is that if someone wants to order a roomali, for instance with the kebabs, that option is available. However, that’s an add-on order.
