Nicolas Colsaerts will fight his way to Jose Maria Olazabal's automatic top 10 for Chicago next month. Colsaerts needs a top-two finish to take Martin Kaymer's place on the list, though a seventh place at the Wyndham Championship on Sunday will no doubt give him plenty of confidence that he can do the job. Kaymer isn't playing this week, so he can no longer help control his own fate. "I am a bit surprised," said Colsaerts of the German's decision. "Everybody goes about their business in different ways, but I assume I'm amazed like everyone else." Kaymer might not like having to rely on a wildcard pick. With one of Olazabal's picks almost certainly going to Ian Poulter, an experienced Ryder Cup campaigner who finished joint third at the USPGA Championship a fortnight ago, that leaves only one other, and Kaymer has not had a top-10 finish since April. Padraig Harrington is another who will have to rely on the pick, but he's doing all he can, and is playing in this week's FedEx Cup opener in America. Colsaerts, meanwhile, revealed that even at his lowest ebb three years ago, when he did not have a card for either the European or Challenge Tours and was relying on invites to the French mini-circuit, he was still using his not-inconsiderable earnings from before (well over £500,000) to enjoy himself. http://www.1stgolfonline.com/Ping-K15-Irons_217.html
