Faridabad holds an important place in the tourism map of India and there are quite a few interesting places for tourists to visit here.The Badkhal Lake which has now completely dried up is in the Faridabad district. A flower show is held here each year during the spring season. Near it is the Peacock Lake which si a perfect place for a pictic with the family. The Suraj Kund Tourist Complex which is by the Suraj Kund Lake is a popular tourist site. Crafts fairs are held here which pull in a large number of tourists. Other places of tourist interest include Raja Nahar Singh Palace also known as Ballabgarh Fort-Palace, Sai Dham Tigaon, Shiva Temple, St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Dhauj Lake, Aravali Golf Course, among others. Faridabad is located in the state of Haryana in the northern part of India. It is the largest city in the state and holds importance as an industrial hub on northern part of the country. The city is responsible for generating 60% of the state’s revenue and holds a place of importance both in the industrial and agricultural sector. The city of Faridabad was founded in the year 1607 by was founded in 1607 AD by Baba Farid, who was a Sufi saint and a treasurer of Mughal Emperor Jahangir. He built fort, a tank and a mosque here which are now part of the city ruins. Faridabad is located on the plains of the Yamuna river, with the Yamuna to the east and Aravali Hills towards the west and southwest. Faridabad is known for its industrial importance and it is home to many large scale production companies. The industries in the city produce while tractors, motorcycles, switch gears, refrigerators, shoes and tyres. There are also about 25000 small-scale industries here. Agriculture also holds a position here and henna and wheat are the main agricultural produce here. The city is also known for the many central government offices which have been shifted here from Delhi. Many directorates of different union government ministries are headquartered in Faridabad. Faridabad experiences a tropical steppe, semiarid and hot climate which is mainly characterized by the extreme dryness. During the three monsoon months of June to September, however the south west monsoon brings in moist air causing high humidity, cloudiness and monsoon rainfall.
