The business marketing programs (as it is officially known) is offered in Toronto at Centennial College’s Progress Campus and proves that a marketing diploma is just as valued as a marketing degree. This centrally located campus is home to many business offerings, which allows students to network with their peers and instructors from other programs. Hands-on training through case studies, guest lectures, presentations, projects, computer simulations and technologies, marketing theory and case-based problem solving is vital to success in this marketing program. Taking two years to complete, the marketing program begins by offering basic business courses, which are used to introduce students to the field and offer a solid foundation for the courses that follow. These foundation courses include: Strategies for Business Success, Fundamentals of Business, College Communications, Microcomputer Applications Software, Mathematics of Finance, Financial Accounting, Business Operations, and more. Once students in this program have a solid foundation, they participate in more specific marketing training. These specialized courses include: Marketing Communications (emphasis is on the application of media reports and marketing research information to the development of objectives and strategies for marketing management, advertising, sales promotions, publicity, media and creative execution); Professional Selling (focuses on pre-selling activities, techniques and procedures to use during the sales interaction and post sales activity); Principles of Marketing (provides an overview of contemporary marketing, emphasizing the management of the product/service, price, promotion and distribution areas of an organization within a changing environment), and more. The four semesters of this business marketing degree program are identical to the first four semesters of Centennial College’s three-year, six-semester program. This permits graduates to benefit from a seamless transition into the three-year Marketing program, should they wish to continue with a more in-depth study of the field. In addition, qualified graduates may be eligible to participate in an articulated program with selected universities, institutes and professional associations. These partnerships allow students to apply credits earned at Centennial towards further study at other institutions such as: Athabasca University, Royal Roads University, University of New Brunswick, Griffith University and Davenport University. Graduates with a marketing degree are involved in business marketing processes that include advertising, promotion, distribution, and sales.
