I along with my wife went to visit the largest metropolitan area of the UK and the capital, London. As me and my wife had interest in history and cultures of various places, we were most excited about visiting the amazing landmarks, the famous museums and breath taking art galleries. The first site we went to holds a significant place in the history of the city. It is none other than the London Tower. Located on the bank of River Thames in central London, it is a historic castle that was founded towards the end of 1066. This historic landmark is home to the Crown Jewels and was also the prison cell of Sir Walter Raleigh. Our visit to Tower of London was truly an unforgettable one. Initially built by Henry III, the Westminster Abbey is also a place worth visiting. It is a historical as well as a religious site and was built in 1245. Counted among one of the most important Gothic buildings of the country, Westminster Abbey was the first home of Benedictine monks. The place also holds one of the most significant collections of monumental sculptures and also has an amazing collection of paintings, books, stained glass and other artifacts. An embodiment of spiritual life, St Paul’s Cathedral is one of the most famous historical and architectural buildings of the city. The cathedral not only serves as an art center but is also a learning hub. The cathedral has various parts that you can explore and discover. The famous structure was rebuilt by Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Some of the important historic events that took place in this cathedral are Winston Churchill’s funeral and the marriage of Prince and Princess of Wales. Counted among one of the most recognizable bridges of the world, the Tower Bridge is also located in London. Built over River Thames, the bridge provides an amazing view of the city from a glass enclosed walkway. We were simply dumbfound and astonished when we saw the scenic views of the city from the Tower Bridge. Located near the Tower Bridge, the Design Museum is also one of the most interesting places to visit. Offering exceptional insights in the world of design, the museum also hosts various family activities and a variety of talks. Several amazing exhibitions on the themes of fashion, architecture, furniture, graphic, product, transport and digital design also take place here. With a café for refreshments and a museum shop for buying gifts for your loved ones, the Design Museum is one of the most amazing attractions of London. London offers accommodation for every taste and every wallet. There are countless hotels from which you can choose according to your need and budget. Me and my wife stayed in a hotel named Premier Inn which is now one of the largest hotel chain in the UK. It was a clean and comfortable hotel that was sufficient for us.
