Samples of blood serve many purposes. From disease detection to detecting the identity of individuals, blood samples serve a wide variety of purposes. As far as disease detection is concerned, it is one of the biggest discoveries of medical science. Doctors can suspect a patient to be suffering of a particular disease through symptoms. However, no one can really be sure of the ailment & such confusion often leads to the wrong treatment. However, with the help of blood samples, detection of any kind of disease has become simpler & easier. So, most doctors, ask patients to conduct blood tests & after investigating these biological samples, the doctors are able to detect the disease for sure. Blood tests help in the detection of virus related diseases such as malaria, dengue, chickungunya, influenza, bird flu, swine flu, hepatitis A, B or C, plague etc. Blood tests are also conducted to detect major illnesses such as tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes, HIV etc. In all these cases, biological samples are taken from the patient’s body & treated. After the investigation, doctors can tell if the patient has that particular virus / disease, what stage it is in, how soon can the patient be cured or not cured. Blood tests are also conducted to determine pregnancy. Biological samples are collected from the lady’s body & tests are conducted. Blood tests are the most trusted method of determining pregnancy in a lady. Sometimes, people suffer from deficiency of certain important elements in their blood. This leads to serious conditions. In such cases too, doctors ask for blood samples to determine the composition of the blood. Depending on what is missing and in what quantities, the doctors conduct the treatment. biological samples also aid the process of research, in the detection of new diseases & in the invention of their cures. Such samples are also used in the creation of vaccines. A number of couples also conduct blood tests, before committing to each other. In such cases, blood samples are checked for sexually transmitted diseases & hereditary diseases. Depending on the results of these tests, couples decide about their relationship. These are the many uses of blood & biological samples.
