Mohali is an important city in the state of Punjab in the northern part of India. It is a very well planned city and is quite close to the state capital Chandigarh. It was earlier part of the Rupnagar district until a separate Mohali district was carved out and the cuity became part of that. Along with Chandigarh and Panchkula, Mohali forms the Chandigarh Tricity. The city was named after Sahibzada Ajit Singh - the eldest son of Guru Gobind Singh. The fact that Mohali extremely well planned and organized makes it a good place to stay as well as visit. There are a number of places of tourist interest in the city. The Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial is a popular tourist site here. With majority of the population belonging to the Sikh community, there are many gurudwaras here. The well-known gurudwaras include Gurudwara Amb Sahib, Gurudwara Angitha Sahib, Gurudwara Singh Sahidaan Gurudwara Singh Sahidaan, Gurudwara Nabha Sahib, among others. The city has off late come to prominence due to its state-of-the-art cricket stadium which is host to many international cricket matches. Needless to say, the IPL has brought the city into the sporting map of the country with its home team. There are also a number of good places of tourist interest in the nearby areas of Mohali. The Sukhna Lake and the Rock Garden which are in Chandigarh are easily reachable from Mohali. The Bhakra Nangal Dam which is one of the best known dams in the country is also not far from Mohali. Due to its well-planned nature and its location, the city is fast growing into an economic hub and a business centre. Many important companies have opened up offices here including big It companies and retail companies. Big housing projects have started building up the city into one of the country’s major cities. The city boasts of all the modern facilities and benefits that go into the making of a high quality urban life. Mohali experiences a sub-tropical continental monsoon climate with extremely hot uncomfortable summers, heavy monsoons and dry pleasant winters. The different in temperature during the different seasons is quite substantial and people get to experience all weathers here. Monsoon season brings in the most rains along with some occasional winter showers. The best time to visit Ludhiana is during the winter months when the weather is pleasant.
