The Commerce Department said John Bryson, 68, suffered a seizure inconnection with Saturday s accidents and has returned toWashington after being released from a hospital. "Secretary Bryson was involved in a traffic accident in LosAngeles over the weekend. He suffered a seizure," saidCommerce spokeswoman Jennifer Friedman. Mr. Bryson could face felony hit-and-run charges, San GabrielPolice spokesman Lt. Ariel Duran said. We did cite him for felonyhit-and-run, Lt. Duran said. Later the case (will be) submittedto the DA s office, which will make a determination on what theyare going to charge him with. The first accident occurred about 5 p.m. on Saturday when a Lexus,driven by Mr. Bryson, rear-ended a Buick stopped at a railwaycrossing. Three men in the Buick apparently spoke to Mr. Bryson wholater drove away, but only after hitting their car a second time.The three called police and followed Mr. Bryson to nearby Rosemead,where the Lexus was apparently involved in another minor accident. David Axelrod, senior adviser to Mr. Obama, said: "Obviouslyit's concerning, but I'm not going to comment because I don't knowany of the details." Mr. Obama swore in the former utility executive as the head theCommerce Department in October, after easily overcomingconservatives' objections that his pro-environmental views made himunsuited for the job.
