So here we are and another year has passed. As we look through the past year at all of our trials, tribulations, and accomplishments what kind of conclusion can we come to? Did you have resolutions last year that were accomplished or did they just get pushed aside as the complications of life bullied their way to the front of your priorities. What must you do different this year than last? How do you make these changes that you want permanent? Why does life always get in the way? I find myself asking these questions all of the time. It seems as though it can be so easy to start a resolution but extremely difficult to finish it. So what is it that we must do in order to make our resolutions stick? I think a huge part of this boils down to being realistic about our goals and resolutions. Once we have our goals set then we have to figure out what our plan of action is. What mental, physical, or lifestyle changes do we need to make in order to accomplish these goals. Who is, or could be a positive influence on our decisions when working towards our goals? Have you ever noticed that whenever you are around a certain type of personality or person you get swayed into making bad or good choices? If you are an alcoholic trying to quit drinking then you don't want to hang out with people that party all the time. You also probably don't want to have alcohol in the house ready and available for you when you are weak. If you are trying to lose weight it might be a good idea to clean out your cupboards and throw away all of the junk that is your temptation. It is important to realign your priorities with your goals. If you just keep doing the same thing and only wish for a change, it will never happen. If weight loss is you goal, then decide how much you want to lose, and when you want to have that accomplished. Try this for a change. Instead of making weight loss your goal try making your goal to eat healthy and exercise more. Focus on your end result and the positive lifestyle that goes with being at the weight you want and being healthier. There are a lot of weight loss plans out there and depending on how you are as an individual they may or may not work for you. We were all build differently, that's why we don't all have the same problem areas when it comes to losing fat. Sometimes it just takes an attitude adjustment. Are blaming your problems on everyone else and can't see that it's your choices that have put you in this position? Are bad things constantly happening to you and you can't figure out why? Let me ask you this, what is your outlook on life? Do you feel like everyone is out to get you and generally feel pretty negative about things? Try this, it will be difficult but try it for 2 weeks, be positive about things. If something bad happens try to find a positive out of it. For example: You wake up late and spill your coffee on your clothes, how could this be positive, take a couple of deep breathes and look at it as you are being protected by the universe and were made late so that you didn't get hurt in an accident. If you had been on your normal routine that morning maybe you would've been in the wrong place at the wrong time and gotten hurt.
