Taiwanese Seasonic is back with a third revised version of its X-Series power of 650W. These few changes they allow this to be X-650 above the competition? At what price? So prepare our load bank for this block with elegance ... It is the turn of the new Seasonic SS-650km to go on our bench charge. Unpacking, it is always a class that the Taiwanese company has its power supply and cables. It has on one side a pretty black velvet bag that contains the Dell D630 Battery block 650W 80Plus Gold certified and the other a double pouch pockets for cables ATX, EPS (2x 8 and 8/4 pin) PCI-e (x4 8/6 pin), number 10 SATA connectors on three cables (4.4 and 2) as well as taken MOLEX five in number with one side three connectors on the same cable and the other the last two. We also note this adapter to MOLEX Floppy, it can still be used. One last word before concluding chapter description of this cover, the cables are flat, not round in a sheath, as is the custom. Whether we like it or not, these cables will make nice wiring in a housing, especially as the cables are long, and therefore suitable for large boxes. To provide 80Plus Gold certification for its customers, Seasonic does however not done in half measures. The block is a little bigger than some competitors, especially in its power range with 16 cm long and 15 cm wide and 8.6 cm high standard. Fully modular, this diet still offers all the protection needed for its proper functioning and safety: OPP, OVP, UVP, October, SCP and OTP, everything is there! So no surprise if you "pull" a little over a configuration too muscular or if the Dell Inspiron 1525 temperature inside is too high. The Seasonic power shuts off without damage. Speaking of temperature, ventilation system block is dynamic. A bit like on other competing models tell us about you, but this model features a switch that allows you to ventilate continuously block or another automatic mode called "hybrid" to turn the blades of the fan 12 cm in diameter. It has already had the opportunity to see the system run on the 1000W model previously tested. On our test model, the fan is started only when our CPU load and GPU simultaneously. Even when mounting two GPUs on our config ', the fan is quiet. After 20 minutes of heating, fan off, the unit has stabilized as is our test Dell D630 Battery protocol. We can begin to turn the CPU and other components of our test configuration to see what this 650W power supply can provide. You can not do more stable. The three voltages are perfectly mastered and the variation is minimal whatever the requested power. On the other hand, we have already Seasonic used, the accuracy of the output voltage is impeccable, except for the 12V where we would have preferred not exceed 0.1 V. But it can indicate that the voltage drop is minimal, the components of our setup does not heat up beyond measure for this small inaccuracy. If fully charged, the SS-650km gives the best of itself, we note a fairly large consumption at rest with 193W statements. Compared to a 500W Corsair power supply, for example, the consumption was only 172W. It is not really meant to be primarily at rest. Emphasis therefore this model to a computer will often provide intensive work throughout the day. In fact, the consumption of our two GPUs is just 525W, far below all other models tested so far, even after several hours of drawing with our software torture. The Dell Latitude E6510 organization 80Plus joined our observation and note yield 87.46% to 20% load at 50% while the yield rises to 90.32%. Fully loaded, the block displays 89.03% on the test bench.
