On the thirteenth of February in 1981, the Maldives Victory, a massive freighter ship, ran aground on Huluhe, the Maldivian island near Male where the airport is situated. The ship sank the very next day and sits on the ocean floor roughly twenty five metres below the surface. It has since become a popular dive spot and is accessible throughout the year. The wreck is roughly one hundred metres long and many parts of the ship can be explored. This includes the three cargo holds, which still contains shipments of food, construction material and other essentials, the bridge and the captain's cabin.
