Ladder bars are used for giving proper traction on the rear wheels of vehicles for effectively transferring weights. They prevent wheel hopping that is usually associated with high acceleration. For installation of ladder bars, it is necessary to install a welder that generates a minimum of 130 amps for effective penetration. If these are to be installed on a leaf spring suspension then a floater is needed for the purpose of axle housing to prevent binding. However, in case of a coil spring suspension, a panard card needs to be added for locating the center line of the axle. The process of installing a competition engineering ladder barsladder bar is cited below: • The vehicle is has to be raised and supported on stands and all four corners are to be labeled. The center line of the vehicle is to be found by the use of a plum bob. • The other materials required for this purpose are: chalks for marking, screwdrivers, bolts and many more. • A straightedge is to be hold on the top of the axle housing. The axle is to be marked at the straightedge level as and against the tire. One inch is to be marked away from the tire. • The axle housing is to be jacked up as far as it goes without lifting the car off the jack stand. The car should be in natural riding position. • The large bracket with holes is to be installed for two bolts on the ladder bar’s back section. The spherical end is to be installed using a lock nut. • It has to be ensured that all bolts are perfectly tightened. It is advisable to use washers on both sides of the bolts in the spherical end. Thus, installing ladder bars in a proper way is extremely important for effective and efficient acceleration of vehicles, without causing much hopping.
