What is a cardiac arrest?
In a heart failure situation, a person becomes unconscious and will collapse on the ground. They usually feel intense heart pain and discomfort with their breathing, as their heart starts to fail to pump blood throughout the body. During this short period of time, the brain stops receiving blood and oxygen, which if not treated quickly can lead to serious problems and even death. Cardiac arrest can leave a scar which can lead to ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia. These symptoms can pre expose people to a great risk of heart failure. However, it can also happen without any symptoms or warning signs, which is called a ‘silent heart heart’.
During cardiac arrest, certain muscles in the heart fail due to lack of blood or oxygen. Furthermore, stretching and pressure exertion weakens the muscles, veins, and arteries related to heart. To ensure a healthy heart after such an event one needs to adopt an adequate diet, light exercise, first aid training, along with purchasing an AED are all good ways to keep yourself prepared.
What is an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)?
It is an electronic portable device that helps tremendously to restore the normal heart beat of the patient. This specialized medical instrument employs the measures to bring back the efficiency and breathing rate of heart. Best thing is that it is portable, battery-operated and quite friendly to use by everyone. If you have gone through this severe situation or prone to this attack, always keep this device with you.
Good reasons for having AED and CPR training
A. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training is a critical part of saving the life of a victim during Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
B. You can learn how to effectively give first aid to child and adults.
C. You will learn how to use Automated External Defibrillator in emergency condition.
D. Experts guide you on the proper way to give mouth-to-mouth ventilation and chest compressions.
E. The training is very essential for non-medical and medical professionals.
F. Companies offer easy-to-learn and easy-to-perform training courses.
How an Automated External Defibrillator work?
This emergency medical device is comprised of sticky pads which include sensors and electrodes that are capable of reading a person’s heart condition and delivering therapy. The sensor transmits information of victim’s heart rhythm to the AED, which interprets the information and applies the appropriate treatment. If the machine detects an abnormal heart condition, it gives audio direction to give electric shock. Utilizing LIFEPAK AEDs, victims heart rates can be restored to their normal rhythm within just a few minutes. It comes with built-in protocols that administer the suitable level of shock to treat t abnormal heart rhythms.
