It is not enough to write good articles, especially if no one reads them. There are actually things you can do to get more clicks on your article and also to get others to click through to your website. More traffic to your websites means more opportunities for sales. Follow these writing and formatting tips, and you'll get more from your article writing efforts. 1. Write an effective title. If you're simply using a keyword for your title, or you're using the same old "how to" type titles, maybe it's time for a change. With more and more pages on the internet every day, it really is harder and harder to write titles people have either never seen or find compelling. Consider unique word combinations and don't forget to use your keywords. Just don't make the keyword your title. Write an actual title. 2. Use short words, short sentences, and short paragraphs. Readers read 25 percent slower online, so if you write big long paragraphs, or you use fancy words when simple short words will do, you will put off your readers. No one wants to read a long paragraph, especially on the computer. Short words, sentences, and paragraphs allow your readers to skim the article, and this allows them to read it much faster. Your readers will appreciate that you have made it easy for them to read your articles. 3. Use sub headings. Sub headings allow you to break up your article into different sections so that you can talk about topics that are related but are hard to transition into. These will make your transitions much simpler, and if you're submitting to sites that offer rich text, you can bold your sub headlines and allow your readers to read the essential material you want them to read. Also, sub headlines make great teasers for the information below it. 4. Format with bullet points or numbers. If you have a main point and sub points in your paragraphs, this allows you to break up your content even further. This technique also allows for skimming so that your readers can get the salient points of your article and lead them into your resource box. 5. Write list articles. A list article is where you write a list of related items, just like this article. Then you write a two to three sentence paragraph under each list item. Then it's simply a matter of writing an introduction and conclusion to your articles. By writing an article this way, you may even get your best ideas and find it's much easier to write your articles. 6. Use your beginning paragraph to draw your readers in. Your beginning and ending paragraphs are the work horses of your articles. The ending paragraph will get your readers to click through to your resource box, so it's definitely important. Your beginning paragraph though is equally important. Like the headline, it gets your readers to read your article. Make it as interesting as possible. Otherwise readers won't read through to the end, and they definitely won't click through to the resource box. Format your articles in a way that make them easy for your readers to read.
