I have found that in this day and age there is no easy way to get involved in the dating scene at all. It seems like being single is actually getting more difficult instead of easier, despite all the different ways to communicate today. I have tried online dating and it just hasn't worked for me. I don't like the somewhat impersonal nature of it. I would still much rather meet a person face-to-face than over a computer. Many places are so loud or so overcrowded that it can be tough to get near anyone and have a conversation without shouting to each other. Even if you find someone you like, you barely have room to breathe in some places, let alone spend some time together. The atmosphere in most clubs today is not very conducive to finding a date, so you need to try and make the best of it. If you know that it is not a quiet place where you can have a conversation and you have met someone you like, try to exchange information with them early on so you can get in touch on the phone or through e-mail. At least then you have a starting place for a quieter conversation. In my opinion, every nightclub is tough to pick up a date because dating overall is tough.
