So you've just written a book, and you're traveling town to town on a book tour. In the last book store you were in only three people showed up to buy your book and have you sign it. You feel discouraged because the book sales didn't even cover the cost of your trip. You know there has to be a better way. There is. Although it may seem obvious that you should be marketing your book online, most authors won't. There are many reasons. Some writers don't like marketing. Some writers think it is beneath them. After all, they are writers. They didn't become writers to become marketers. However, if you want to get more book sales, and you can do it from the comfort of your own home, then consider these reasons for marketing online: 1. Allows you to create passive marketing strategies. A passive marketing strategy is where you create the content once, and it continues to market for you over and over. This can be articles, a website, social profiles, and anything else that allows you to build an online presence. The larger your online presence, the more readers you can attract to your books. 2. Getting book reviews is easier, and it will improve your sales. Book reviews can help you get more readers. If someone else has already read your book and liked it, having that person recommend your book makes it easier to make the sale. Finding reviewers is as simple as doing a search in the search engines for book reviewers. Use the term book reviewers. Make sure you find reviewers who actually read the type of writing you write. Otherwise, you are wasting your time. Reviewers are busy people, and they often do it for free, so you want to make sure you approach the right people. 3. Connect with more of your readers. By building a web presence, you can connect with readers who read what you write. Having a profile on sites like Amazon and Barnes and Noble really is a must. To get more for your efforts, try to connect with readers there. Amazon has forums where you may post and connect with those who are interested in what you write about. 4. Ability to offer your book in digital formats. When you sell online, you have the option of offering your books in digital formats. This includes PDFs, Kindles, Nook, and more. It doesn't matter what format you want to offer your work in. It's about your readers. The more formats you offer, the more opportunities you have to attract readers who only read certain formats. In the digital age, digital titles are outselling print titles, so don't overlook this opportunity. 5. Promotional opportunities require less time and money online than offline. When you promote online, you promote from the comfort of home. There are no travel costs involved, which saves you money. You can use this money to help you do online promotions, like press releases, which is far less expensive. You can even send out a press release and have it distributed everywhere on the internet more widely than if you were submitting to print newspapers. This includes news sites, article directories, and many other places you might not even consider. So get started, and you'll get twice as much marketing done in far less time and money. You will attract thousands, possibly millions of new readers to your work. Get my best articles and resources to help you make more money from your writing. Click here: Marketing for Writers.
