The Channel Tunnel has, for over a decade now, opened up continental Europe for low-cost travel, using basic public transport. You can now get from London to Paris in a matter of hours without having to seriously restrict your luggage because of ludicrously picky budget airline restrictions. However, this assumes that you can work out the complexities of the French rail system. You would be forgiven for thinking this would be an easy task. The language problems aside, French train stations are a mystery in themselves. There are obvious similarities, but enough differences to make the experience problematic and potentially stressful. It would be significantly easier if you could visit the continent, but still use recognisable British modes of transport. As ridiculous (and slightly imperialistic) as this idea sounds, it is actually possible with continental coach trips. Board a coach in the UK and cross over to France – either on the ferry or the tunnel – and you get the same views and experience of being abroad without having to deal with the unfamiliar transport infrastructure. Instead, you can relax and properly enjoy your holiday, leaving the driving and navigating to the driver. The convenience of a continental coach trip goes well beyond removing a little stress. It can also radically shorten travel times and enable you to get the most out of the time available to you. Rather than having to travel to the nearest hub and then negotiate whatever local transport you can find to get you to the more remote and less-frequently visited destinations, the coach will take you directly from the terminal on the French coast to wherever you want to be. Direct transport is available for every part of the trip. Travel from rest stop to point of interest to rest stop and so on, wasting the least amount of time possible and enabling more time to enjoy the places you actually wanted to see and not the insides of tourist information offices and train stations. Best of all, a coach trip you have arranged from the UK is entirely at your convenience. They will visit the sites that you want to see and further instructions can be issued en route without having to worry about whether you have just asked for a comfort break or accidentally insulted the driver due to a language barrier. This is your holiday – it is only right that you get exactly what you want out of it instead of the same stress you go through on a daily basis, but delivered in a different language.
