Dark skin is not a disadvantage, but women the world over prefer the fairer variety. This is what has led several research agencies to look for ways to brighten dark skin. Many formulations are available in the market which promises to change dark skin to a fair one, but, being based on the chemical hydroquinone (HQ), suffer serious limitations due to pronounced side effects.
