Remodeling Your Resturant on a Budget

Interior Design,Business

To remodel a restaurant successfully, you need an appropriate plan and team. Remodeling is always a thorny issue, particularly when you have high expectations but have a limited budget. With the current harsh economic climate, it is no surprise that each and every restaurateur wants full value for money spent. The key areas of concern include getting the best return on investments and emphasis on items that will have the greatest effect on your guests.

10 - Be Sensible

Make plans for the long-term. For instance, if you do not have enough money to purchase quality and durable dining chairs, do not go for cheap ones that will need replacement after a few months. As you save some cash, revamp your old furniture using vinyl and re-touch the surfaces to clear away all dents and scratches. Your guests will still be pleased about this revamped look. Thus, draw up a list of your most important needs, guided by your budget.

9 - Be Energy Efficient

Most people tend to believe that going green involves the investment of large amounts of cash. However, this is not always the case. Consider replacing or installing devices that are more energy efficient in your restaurant. For example, if you need to purchase a new air conditioning system, shop for one which has more SEER ratings - the higher the SEER rating the more you save on the long term. Likewise, use LED bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs, put up energy curtains in the freezer rooms, reduce your waste products and come up with a good recycling plan.

8 - The Menu and Business Logo

These two items symbolize your identity. This is why you must hire a graphic designer to design your menu and business logo professionally. An expert graphic designer knows how to place items on your menu so that sales are increased and will also come up with a highly marketable logo for your business. Avoid jumbled menus, dated fonts and amateurish logos.

7 - Outdoor Dining

Outdoor dining comes with several advantages. Depending on the climate, it can be easily done for the better part of the year. These days, more and more restaurants are housed in smaller square footage rooms, and this makes outdoor dining more essential for guests. Therefore, a comfy setting for dining will be crucial. Try demarcating and landscaping your spaces using planters, or add fire pits and torches to create that ambience and relaxed atmosphere. Other valuable additions may include a sound system, attractive lighting and efficient ceiling fans.

6 - Lavatory

A complete overhaul may be expensive, but update your bathroom with some new fittings and accessories. For the ladies bathroom, a full-length mirror is mandatory. You may also purchase modern faucets, trendy mirrors and decorative lights.

5 - Artwork and accessories

Do away with old works of art and replace them with captivating wall décor and accessories. This ought to be placed at eye level. Some suggestions include the following: wall sculptures, dynamic artwork or product displays such as fresh fruit, wine or vegetables.

4 - Cleanliness/ Neatness

Always spare some time to assess your whole set-up and general cleanliness. Service stations in restaurants generate lots of clutter and disorderliness. But to maximize your sales, everything must be well organized at all times - neatly arrange your bottle displays and glasses. You will also need to constantly assess the flow of your service. If more service stations are needed, a good solution would be ready made pieces of furniture like the small credenzas. These are both attractive and functional.

3 - Painting

Be adventurous with your painting; do not hesitate to try out some new color combinations. A fresh coat of paint with the proper colors will surely transform the whole appearance of your restaurant.

2 - Lighting

Lighting is a key functional and decorative feature in all restaurants. Consider buying the specially designed chandeliers; these are bound to become the center of attraction in your restaurant and the talk of town! Additionally, the back bar ought to have illuminated liquor steps and some splendid lighting. Invest in a dimming system - too much light obliterates the smooth restaurant vibe.

1 - Make a good first impression

First impressions are lasting impressions. Right from the parking lot to the interior of your restaurant, the outlook must always be welcoming. Landscaping and exterior lighting will most certainly make your outdoors look better. Others such as planters and hostess stands may help to signify the point of arrival or may help to capture the attention of visitors. In the interior, some upholstery work on your restaurant furniture and other decorations will suffice.
