Horse bits are very significant in establishing a stunning communication between rider and horse. There is no uniform horse bit, which can be used for all horses since the bit size differs from one horse to another. Hence, if a rider wants his/her horse contented and wants to create better communication, then accurate fitting horse bits are compulsory. As movement message is virtually sent from a rider to his/her horse, using hands to the horse’s mouth. Hence, slightest movement of finger, drooping or raising of wrist would send diverse signals to horse. The measurement of the bit, its fitting with the mouth is required to be checked properly. Otherwise the horse would experience discomfort frequently. If the bit is tight it would bruise the skin of horse whenever its cheek moves. The opposite, too long outside is also not at all desirable. The bit comprises of two parts: bit rings of a snaffle or shanks of a curb bit and the mouthpiece. Snaffle bits operate on direct pressure but curb bits apply on both pressure and leverage. There are diverse kinds of horse bits that work on particular parts of a horse’s head. Most common snaffle bits allocate straight bars, joined or double joined bars in accordance with rider’s requirement. The rings can also be differently built-in like fixed rings which avert pinching or hurting, loose permitting liberal movement, D ring assists better steering. Pelham bit allows two bit of a double bridal to combine one. Pelham is used better with one or two reigns to enhance improved control and communiqué with the horse. The mouthpiece is not a factor that determines the type of bit. It is the rings or the leverage on the side pieces that determine exactly what kind of horse bits are to be utilized, whether it is curbing or sniffle. The bit guard must be used if the joints on the sides are about to pinch the corner of horse’s mouth.
