WOLFSBURG – June 7, 2012: Volkswagen is giving extra momentumto its Strategy 2018 with an extensive structural and managementrealignment. "Our company has grown strongly and become moreinternational in recent years. This fundamental reorganisation isthe right response to the increasing challenges. At the same timewe are laying the foundations for keeping the Group and its brandson their successful course even in a difficult marketenvironment", Board of Management CEO Prof. Dr. MartinWinterkorn said on Saturday. This followed the SupervisoryBoard's approval of the planned measures at an extraordinarymeeting. Under the reorganisation a new Board of Management function for"China" will be set up at Group level, thusunderpinning the significance of the largest sales market in theworld. The Volkswagen Group delivered some 2.3 million vehicles inthe China region in the 2011 fiscal year and reported a pro rataoperating profit there of €2.6 billion. Prof. Dr. JochemHeizmann, latterly Group Board of Management member withresponsibility for "Commercial Vehicles", will head thenew function. The commercial vehicles business has become the second strongpillar for the Volkswagen Group in recent years. The furtherstructuring of the "Commercial Vehicles" function inthe Group Board of Management under the leadership of Leif tlingnow paves the way for close cooperation between the MAN, Scania andVolkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands to leverage synergies andjointly harness the substantial worldwide growth potential in thissegment. In this context, the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brandwill become part of the Commercial Vehicles business area goingforward. In his new function, Leif tling, President and ChiefExecutive Officer of Scania until August 31, will be supported by ateam comprised of managers from MAN, Scania and Volkswagen who willfurther networking and cooperation among the companies involved. In addition to these measures at Group level, several importantchanges will also be made at brand level: As a member of the Executive Committee of the Volkswagen Group, Dr.Georg Pachta-Reyhofen, Chief Executive Officer of MAN SE, takes onadditional responsibility for the Group-wide coordination of theindustrial engines business and for MAN Power Engineering. AndersNielsen, latterly Head of Production and Logistics on the ScaniaExecutive Board, will become Chief Executive Officer of MAN Truck &Bus AG. Martin Lundstedt, currently Head of Franchise and FactorySales on the Scania Executive Board, takes over as Chief ExecutiveOfficer at Scania. Dr. Eckhard Scholz, currently member of the Board of Management forTechnical Development at ŠKODA, has been named Speaker for theBoard of Management of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Hanoverand will also hold responsibility for Technical Development. The new member of the Board of Management for Technical Developmentat ŠKODA is Dr. Frank Welsch, currently Head of BodyworkDevelopment at the Volkswagen brand. Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, currently Speaker for the Board ofManagement of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, has been appointedChairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bentley Motors in Crewe andPresident of Bugatti. Wolfgang D heimer, CEO of Bentley and President of Bugatti, movesto Audi in Ingolstadt to become the member of the Board ofManagement with responsibility for Technical Development. At thesame time, Luca de Meo, currently Head of Marketing at theVolkswagen Group and the Volkswagen brand, becomes member of theBoard of Management for Sales and Marketing at Audi. Dr. BerndMartens, currently Head of New Product Start-ups in VolkswagenGroup Purchasing, takes over as member of the Board of Managementwith responsibility for Purchasing at Audi. These and further management appointments will chiefly come intoeffect on September 1, 2012. The Volkswagen Group has without exception made all of these Boardof Management appointments by taking senior managers from withinthe Company, including three female top managers who will assumeresponsibility at brand board of management level.
