Forum Mall, located in the IT hub area of Koramangla on Hosur Road, was the first full-fledged shopping mall set up in Bangalore. It is a popular hangout destination of the youngsters in the city. The building management systems, close circuit security, computerized parking management systems, ATM machines, cent per cent generator backup and centralized air conditioning make the mall a different experience in itself. A large multi-level parking area inside the main mall is one of its main attractions. All these facilities and amenities raise it to the level of a world class mall. The Forum Mall is located in a part of Bangalore city where there is a large concentration of multinational corporations. A large number of shoppers are from Christ University and Christ Junior College, located less than half a kilometre away from the mall. The Transit is one of the most popular locations among these college students. It has opened a new mall called The Forum Value Mall in Whitefield in Bangalore city. It also plans to open malls at Cochin, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Mangalore and Chennai. A minor electrical fire broke out at The Transit on January 29, 2009 which, however, was quickly contained. Many visitors are complaining about the lack of safety in the mall as the fire exits and the emergency exits always remain locked with a chain and padlock. Forum Mall is open on all the seven days of the week. Shopping inside the mall can be done from 10 in the morning to 9.00 in the night. While food and beverages inside the mall is open from 11 in the morning to 11 in the night, the cinemas theatres are open from 10 in the morning to 9.45 in the night.
