Solve Quadrilaterals Kites

Kites are irregular type of quadrilaterals. The quadrilaterals are having four sides. The adjacent sides of these kites are equal. The kites meet at 90 degrees at its diagonals.

Area of the kite is defined for the following formula.

Area of kite =d1d2 / 2 [d1, d2 ---> diagonals]

The sum of the quadrilaterals is 360 degree. Angles of the two unequal sides of the quadrilaterals are equal. Let us see how to solve the quadrilaterals.

Solve the quadrilaterals kites Problem 1:

The diagonals of a kite are 22 cm and 16 cm. find the area value of the kite.

Solution:

Let us take d1 = 22cm and d2 =16 cm

So the area of the kite is = d1d2 / 2

Area = 22 *16 / 2

Area = 11*16

In a quadrilateral kite we are having the angles between the two unequal sides are 110 and y. another two angles are 65 and x. find the value of all angles.

Solution:

Angles of the two unequal sides of the quadrilaterals are equal.

So

Y = 110

We know sum of the angles are 360

X + 6 5 + 110 + 110 = 360

X + 285 = 360

Subtract 285 on both sides

X + 285 -285 = 360 -285

X = 75 Solve the quadrilaterals kites Problem 3:

Find the perimeter of the quadrilateral kite which is having the side lengths 3cm and 4cm.

Solution:

Perimeter of the Kite = 2 (a + b)

Where a and b are the sides a = 3 cm and b = 4 cm

Perimeter = 2 (3 + 4)

= 2 x 7

The area of the kite2 is 3 more than two times of kite1. Where the diagonals of kite1 are 5 cm and 8 cm. find the area of the kite 2.

Solution:

Area of the kite = d1d2/ 2

Diagonals of the kite1 =5 cm and 8cm

Area of the kite 1 = 5 * 8 / 2

Area = 20cm2

Area of the kite2 = 2*(area of the kite1) + 3

Area of the kte2 = 2*20 +3

Area of the kite2 = 40 +3 =43cm2

Area of the kite 2 =43 cm2

Practice problem for solve quadrilaterals kites:

The area of the kite2 is 4 more than two times of kite1. Where the diagonals of kite1 are 6 cm and 9 cm. find the area of the kite 2.

Answer: 44 cm2

The area of the kite4 is 5 more than two times of kite1. Where the diagonals of kite1 are 7 cm and 10 cm. find the area of the kite 2.

Answer: 45 cm2

Solution: (Ist Method) We know that The sum of the four angles of a quadrilateral is 360°. The sum of the given three angles = 65 + 75+ 100 = 225 The fourth angle = 360 - 240 = 120°.
