Taxis are available from railway station to Ambaji and they charge around Rs. 200. State owned buses are there from nearest cities such as Ahmedabad, Abu Road Station, Mt Abu, Delhi etc. to Ambaji. Nearest airport is Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel International Airport at Ahmedabad, which is at a distance of 180 km from Ambaji. Cabs are available from airport to Ambaji and they charge around Rs. 2500 for one way. Ambaji is a temple town in the Indian state of Gujarat and has a famous Ambaji Temple visited by several tourists every year. The temple is located on the Arasur hill of the Aravalli Range in Ambaji. She is often referred to as Arasuri Amba, named for the location of the temple in the Arasur hills. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and it is believed that the heart of the goddess fell at this place. Situated on Gabbar hilltop just 5 km away from the town, the temple is made up with white marble with gold cones and originally built by Nagar Brahmins. In this temple, there is no idol or statue and only the triangular shaped Vishwa Yantra is worshipped as the main deity and no one can see this Yantra with the naked eye. Ambaji Temple is a popular temple in Gujarat and visited by many pilgrimages every day. There is a main entrance in the front and only a small side door, because it is believed that Ambaji has prohibited the addition of any other door. It is surrounded by an open square called Chachar Chowk where ceremonial sacrifices like havans are performed. The inner sanctum of the temple has silver plated doors. There is a niche in the wall, on which an old-plated marble inscription of the triangular Vishwa Yantra, inscribed with figures and the syllable ‘shree’ in the centre is fixed. The original Ambaji Temple has a large rectangular kund, with steps on all its four sides, called Mansarovar and it is a major attraction in this place. A special pooja is performed every month on the full and new moon days in the season of Kartik, Chaitra and Bhadrapada. A big religious fair known as Bhadarvi Poornima (full moon day) is organized by the temple trust every year in the month of September for four days and attracts many devotees. Ambaji Temple is open on all days of the week from 7.15 AM to 11.30 AM, 12 PM to 4.15 PM and 6.30 PM to 9 PM.
