Beam Style Seating Systems

The beam seats create rows of chairs that people can sit in. Each chair has arm supports to divide the individual seats making them more personal than the benches and pews that are frequently used for the same application. When you sit on a bench it likely has no back to support your back. People complain of getting pains in their lower backs and legs when they sit on these items for long periods of time. People also complain that they have to sit in proximities that are so close that their bodies physically touch. The physical closeness to strangers makes people feel very uncomfortable.

When pews are used instead of benches the pew has a back to support your back. You will however not have a clear definition in which seat is yours so you will be pressed into close sitting beside everyone else that sits on the pew. The backs of pews are generally rather straight and make a person sit more upright than they sit in chairs. This is alright for a short period of time, but when people are required to sit on these items for several hours they complain of aching legs and backs.

Beam seats create the rows of individual chairs that are more comfortable for most people to sit in. They provide defined seats and they allow several people to sit side by side without having to actually touch each other. People are more comfortable with this type of seating because it reminds them of the seats in movie theaters, school auditoriums, and other institutions designed for entertainment to large audiences.

The beam is made of iron and there are generally leg supports at each end of the iron beam supporting it. Every six to ten feet there will be another leg support to reinforce the stability and strength of the iron beam. On top of that beam is seats that bolt to the beam from the bottom.

The seats are generally metal framed and then the seat and backs are likely to be a plastic material. Plastics are strong and they are easy to clean and disinfect. This is important in areas where large numbers of people are confined in close proximity.

These seats will be cheaper for companies to buy and install than individual chairs and benches are. Benches allow for customers to stretch out when they need to and they also allow people who may be wider to feel more comfortable when they sit on them. Some businesses include benches and beam seats so that all customers can sit comfortably.
