It can be tempting to shop around for plastic surgeons on the basis of price and price alone. For budget-conscious patients, the cost of liposuction body contouring can play a major role in determining which plastic surgeon is the “right” plastic surgeon. But is it really wise to use finances as a means for deciding on a surgeon? Most experts would flat-out say, “No.” When deciding on a doctor, money can play an important role in decision-making, but it shouldn’t be the primary motivation behind choosing one doctor over another. If you want to keep the cost of a liposuction body contouring procedure low, there are some important considerations that may help you find a highly qualified doctor to perform the procedure without having to sell your first child to do it. First of all, plastic surgeons in big cities like New York and Los Angeles are going to have to charge more for their services. That’s because the demand for their services is higher and the cost of doing business is higher too. As a result, patients end up spending more on surgeons who live and work in these areas. If you want to pay less, consider finding a surgeon in a place that is slightly less populated. Surgeons who perform liposuction body contouring on a regular basis in small cities are likely to charge a lot less than surgeons who specialize in doing only liposuction and body contouring in big, populated cities. Keep in mind that plastic surgeons with little experience performing liposuction body contouring are going to charge less than plastic surgeons who have lots of experience with the procedure. The more experience, training, and skill that a plastic surgeon has, the more he can charge his patients for his expertise. It’s unwise to choose a plastic surgeon who has little to know experience performing a liposuction body contouring procedure, but if you’re concerned about money, finding a plastic surgeon who has quite a bit of experience, but perhaps isn’t a veteran yet might help you keep costs down without totally sacrificing on quality. The fees associated with the hospital can also ramp up the total cost of a liposuction procedure. Talk with your doctor about the hospital or clinic fees associated with your procedure if you’ve got your eye on your pocketbook. Often, when procedures are performed in a doctor’s clinic, there is no fee for the facility. However, hospitals will charge a fee of between $500 and $1,500 for the use of their facilities and equipment. Sometimes the use of a hospital facility is necessary and prudent. Doctors will recommend it if the surgery entails some risks or requires the use of specialized equipment. However, discuss the possibility of using an alternate hospital or the doctor’s clinic if the extra cost concerns you. Finally, the cost of anesthetic can affect the bottom line. Generally anesthetic can cost between $500 and $1,500 per surgical procedure. Many patients will choose to have more than one procedure performed in addition to their liposuction body contouring surgery in order to get the most out of their money because the cost of anesthesia for two procedures is the same as the cost for one. Discuss the options with the plastic surgeon of your choice to arrive at a budget-friendly procedure that meets your needs.
