Centennial College’s Bachelor of Applied Information Sciences – Computer and Communication Networks allows students to either enter the field or continue their studies. This is possible thanks to an educational partnership with Griffith University in Australia that allows qualified graduates to apply academic credit towards further study. With Centennial College’s computer networking training and business communication courses, it is made sure that the students get to learn the “innovative balance” between the practical and the theoretical backgrounds which many employers look out for. In addition to this, to help the students in their learning, Centennial College facilitates the students of both business communication courses and computer networking training with state-of-the-art laboratories which are specifically engineered and endowed with features like VoIP, Cellular Networks, Wireless Broadband (WiMax), Advanced Routing and Switching or Network Management. The computer networking training offers a variety of courses, however, some of the courses are: Operating Systems Fundamentals (it gives a description of the concepts that underline modern operating systems with fundamental concepts based on those found in existing commercial operating systems); Database Design & Modeling (the students learn fundamental concepts related to relational databases, consisting the general architecture, conceptual, logical and physical design, querying techniques, and security features); Enterprise Network Design (helps the learners to investigate and design a variety of enterprise network configurations and emphasis on modeling and simulating networks, using the most advanced computer tools); and more. Apart from this, the students can participate in different business communications courses offered by Centennial College. It consist courses such as: Fundamentals of Business and Information Systems, Marketing of Services, Organizational and Client Relationships, Entrepreneurship in the New Economy and more. The aspirants for computer networking training can participate in a 15-week mandatory co-op placement, during which they are placed in financial institutions, Fortune 500 organizations, IMB as well as private sector companies. The minimum requirement for computer networking training and business communication course is a C grade in ENG-110, minimum 2.0 GPA and minimum 80 per cent of year 1 and 2 courses required for COOP-221. Please note, in this offering students can specialize in network security or wireless systems. For applying in computer networking training students are required to possess at least an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with a minimum of six 12U, 12M, OAC credits or equivalent or are required to be 19 years of age or older. In addition, they must have completed the English 12U and one of the following: Math 12U Advanced Functions, Math 12U Calculus and Vectors, Math 12U Mathematics of Data Management or equivalent.
