For centuries, cars have proven their importance to the economies of countries around the world. The most practical cars used to be just luxuries for those who can afford, but overtime, they have become a necessity for people who want to travel with comfort, convenience, ease, and speed. Indeed, cars have evolved through time—from the crude models that were used years ago, Performance cars are now being invented year by year to satisfy people's need for speed and endurance. The First Car Several vehicle designs have been created since 1335, but it was not until 1769 that the first documented self-propelled vehicle was made. This vehicle, designed by Nicholas Joseph Cugnot and assembled by M. Brezin, was powered by a steam engine. While it had the ability to go around town, it required a counterweight at the rear for it not to fall over forward. It was also very heavy and could only be used on flat surfaces. After the successful creation of this very first mobile car, many other inventors tried to create their own steam-powered cars, but failed. The Karl Benz Model In 1885, another successful automobile model was created. This was designed by Karl Benz, a German designer and car engineer. This time, the car was powered by an internal combustion engine. It had three wheels: one at the front and two at the rear. Like Cugnot's model, Benz's car was heavy and was prone to accidents. Benz continued to improve his invention, though, and was later able to create the very first practical four-wheeled vehicle. Benz equipped his automobiles with a gear shift, a radiator, ignition, accelerator, clutch, and carburetor. He sold his cars to the public and became the largest manufacturer of automobiles in the 1900s. The Modern Vehicles Since the invention of the first car models, a lot of experiments have been made to better improve the functionality and features of vehicles. These days, we now have what we call the modern vehicles. These vehicles contain rich features that are not only a necessity but provide aesthetic functionality as well. The cars of today, whether they be a Performance car, a sports car, Luxury SUV, sedan, or whatever type, now sport indispensable features, such as the breaks, electrical indicators, seatbelts, air-conditioning units, automatic transmissions, air bags, bumpers, and even car radios. Gone are the days where people have to make-do with vehicles that can take them around town in a speed of 2 miles per hour and which are prone to bumping into walls. The cars of today can run at high speeds, bringing people to their intended destinations in a span of shorter hours. The evolution of cars has led to the improvements of many people's way of living. It cannot be denied that these automobiles have made people's lives easier, providing them the means to reach their workplaces faster and to gain better access to important business locations. Basically, cars improve mobility, providing not only economic advantages to businesses but easier living to individuals as well.
