Nick Watney trusted a full bag of Titleist equipment to claim his first title in more than 13 months at The Barclays. Watney averaged 300 yards off the tee and found 70% of the fairways at Bethpage Black with his Titleist 913 D3 driver and Titleist 910F fairway wood. He also performed admirably with his Titleist AP2 712 irons by tying for second in greens in regulation on 75%. The 913D3 has a 445cc classic-pear shape that is forgiving and was the preferred weapon of choice for McIlroy because of its workability. “Golfers can now choose their 913 model based on size or shape preference, amount of forgiveness or workability, and amount of draw bias,” says Dan Stone, Titleist’s vice-president of research and development. “They can then dial-in their launch and spin settings precisely using the SureFit Tour hosel.” Despite recording just three top-ten finishes in 2012 on the eve of the opening event of FedEx Cup Playoffs, the 31-year-old chose the perfect week to kickstart his season as his three-shot victory vaulted him from 49th to first in the FedEx Cup standings. He also enters the fray as a potential American wildcard pick for next month's Ryder Cup at Medinah. Starting the final round two shots off the lead, Watney took a stranglehold on the event with three birdies in the space of four holes from the seventh, highlighted by a stunning right-to-left putt from 30-feet at the par-3 eighth and exquisite approach to four-feet at the tricky par-4 10th. Adds Stone: “The Titleist 913 D2 driver and 913D3 drivers offer the highest performance of any adjustable drivers on the market, particularly when it comes to speed and forgiveness. “Every serious golfer from Tour players to amateurs of all skill levels will experience more distance potential and better driving performance with 913.” The new 913 drivers further define our commitment and success in providing players with the game’s highest performing clubs with preferred looks, sound and feel, Source from: http://www.ukgolfsupply.com/article-438-Watney-kick-starts-season-with-Titleist-913-D3-driver.html
